Some mornings
Like this morning
As slowly I rise, a phoenix from sleep
I forget that I'm alone in my bed, I dream
A partner who's impatiently awaiting her coffee
A dog who needs me to let him out to pee
A mother I have to call
Even a mythical kitten enthralled
Hunting invisible bugs on the wall
When finally, I catch up to reality
It's a shock; I go through
All my recent losses
And the grief begins anew.
